Max Uechtritz

In a broadcasting career spanning more than 36 years, Max Uechtritz has been an international executive, program maker and foreign correspondent, prior to setting up his own documentary company.

As an ABC foreign correspondent, Max has reported from more than 30 countries on five continents, covering firsthand some of recent history’s major events.

Max was Executive Director of News and Current Affairs at ABC and Network Director of News at Nine Network Australia. As Director of Programmes at AJE, Max had oversight of multiple shows and documentaries. He was an Executive Producer and Head of Network Investigations at Seven Network.

His recent independent documentaries include The Menin Gate Lions, narrated by Jack Thompson,The Hall of Memory, Koala Rescue, and the Walkley Documentary Award longlisted film Australian Hero: Keith Payne VC, with Ray Martin on SBS.

Max has twice won Australia’s most prestigious journalism prize, the Walkley Award. He has also won Television Penguin and Gold Thorn awards, and the Bicentennial Pater Award for Investigative Reporting.

As a recipient of the Centenary Medal, awarded by the Governor General and Prime Minister to mark 100 years since Federation, Max was recognised for services to news and current affairs.
